Due to the tightening biosolids guideline limits to come in effect 2012 the New Plymouth District Council will need to look at ways to reduce the levels of heavy metals in particular copper and zinc.
One option is not to accept septage because of the high levels of metals bond up in the sludge

Question I have: are there any facilities that do not accept septage, if so what is currently being done? e.g. on site dewatering or dewatering at an industrial site common to all septic tank disposers

Look forward to your comments

Cheers

Gary
