Hi there folks - just wondering if I could trouble ye for details of the cost/m3 for septage in your respective areas.

At Rotorua the current fee is $40.45/m3 ex GST

Hi Jamie, Paul here, Dunedin. We charge $15.00 per cubic metre. Special waste is charged at $30.00 - this captures things like petroleum contaminants, chemicals etc. (but not grease traps - they are charged as septic).

We charge using a rolling 6 month average of monthly testing for each septic contractor using volume, cBOD5 and TSS.
The average cost is around $25/m3

Hi Chaps and Chapesses.

Depending on where the septage originates from the following applies:

Any septage from North Harbour domestic households costs $90 / load, regardless of how much (100L or 10,000L)

Septage from any other domestic area, or commercial septage from any area, is charged at between $130 & $140 / tonne depending on the water concentration.

Ridiculously expensive and complicated compared to other areas of NZ.

Hi Jamie

New Plymouth District Council charges $24.31/ m3 plus an admin fee of $20 per load, both +gst

The charge incorporates a charge for Volume, BOD, SS and toxic metals we sample 1 random load every 2 weeks, the cost of sampling is included in the charges.

Nominated values used for charging

Nominated BOD 7000g/m3
Nominated SS 15000g/m3

Trade waste charges are multiplied by the mass to come up with the per volume charge.
