Am looking to add root removal as a variation to my maintenance contract.
What do other Council's use as the rate item? Do you measure on a per metre rate?
Example being a 70 metre pipeline has 2 areas of root investation how would the contractor claim this root removal as an item under the contract?
I hope this is making sense. We do have a description for removal of blockages but my Manager now wants to specify root removal in light of what happened in Auckland.

Our Contractor is tasked to do this work and if it falls outside the existing contract parameters then its done under dayworks rates . . . seems to work ok for us _________________ The earth is the insane asylum for the universe |

We use a different contractor from our maintenance contractor, due to them having a water blaster driven "hole saw" type cutter.
Hourly rates are used for similar complications re metres/roots and also the varying length of time it takes. If a bad infestation is found (required more than two passes), the contractor will call me to inform me that more time is required. Rushing a heavy infestation will only end in a poor result.
